Privacy Policy

1. Who I am

ScriptieTutor is a one-person thesis coaching service based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I am responsible for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach me at info@scriptietutor.nl or on WhatsApp at +31 6 84 42 62 33.

2. What I collect

When you contact me or work with me:

  • Contact details you give me (name, email address, phone number, WhatsApp username)
  • Academic details (university, programme, thesis topic, deadline)
  • Documents, data and files you share for coaching purposes
  • Messages and emails between you and me, and my session notes
  • Invoicing and payment details

When you visit this website:

  • Technical data that every web server receives (IP address, browser, pages requested), kept in my hosting provider's server logs
  • Only if you click "Accept" in the cookie banner: analytics and advertising data, as described in section 5

3. Why I use it, and on what basis

  • To reply to you and provide my services: necessary to take steps at your request and to perform my agreement with you (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • To send invoices and keep financial records: a legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)).
  • To keep the website running and secure (server logs, web fonts): my legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • To measure visits and the results of my ads: only with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.

I do not use your data for anything else, and I never sell it.

4. Services I use

  • WhatsApp (Meta): if you message me on WhatsApp, your messages are handled under WhatsApp's own privacy policy.
  • FormSubmit (formsubmit.co): the short contact form on the English page sends your email address and message to my inbox through this service.
  • Google Fonts: the website loads its fonts from Google's servers, which means your browser shares your IP address with Google when a page loads.
  • Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google Ads: loaded only after you accept cookies (see section 5).
  • GoDaddy: hosts this website and its server logs.

Some of these providers are based in the United States. Where data leaves the EU, they rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.

5. Cookies and your choice

When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics and advertising cookies.

  • Decline: no analytics or advertising scripts are loaded. Your choice is stored in your browser (a localStorage item called cookie-consent) so the banner doesn't keep coming back.
  • Accept: Google Tag Manager loads Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion tracking, which use cookies to measure visits and which ads lead to contact.

If you arrive through one of my Google ads, the WhatsApp button may pre-fill a short message mentioning the ad. You can edit or delete that text before sending.

You can change your mind at any time. This button clears your choice, and the banner will appear again on your next visit to the homepage:

6. How long I keep it

  • Messages and coaching files: for as long as I am working with you, and deleted on request afterwards.
  • Invoices and financial records: 7 years, as required by Dutch tax law.
  • Analytics data: according to the retention settings of Google Analytics.

7. Confidentiality

Your thesis topic, your data and your conversations with me stay between you and me. I don't share them with your university, your supervisor or anyone else, unless the law requires it.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask me to access, correct, delete or export your data, to restrict or object to processing, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Email me at info@scriptietutor.nl and I will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

9. Changes

I may update this policy when my services or tools change. The date at the top always shows the latest version.
